Giving

Money can be a very emotional issue for many people. That is why at the Syracuse Vineyard Church we seek to have a non-hype, simple approach to money. We look to see what the Bible teaches about it and then encourage people at the Vineyard to respond faithfully to God's word.

The Bible calls for people to give their first ten percent of their income to God as a sign of His lordship.

"'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord." Leviticus 27:30 (NIV)

"Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine." Proverbs 3:9-10 (NIV)

Abraham did this hundreds of years before the law. Jesus affirmed the tithe while condemning hypocrisy.

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former." Matthew 23:23 (NIV)

God is so serious about owing our first ten percent that He calls it robbery when we keep it.

"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' "In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse--the whole nation of you--because you are robbing me. Malachi 3:8-9 (NIV)

The tithe is given to God through the local church that a person is committed to. The Bible is also clear that we can live better on our 90% then our 100%.

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the Lord Almighty. "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land," says the Lord Almighty." Malachi 3:10-12 (NIV)

At the Syracuse Vineyard we are totally supported by the generosity of those who give.

How to give at the Vineyard

Choose one of the following ways.

Give at the Weekend services - At each weekend service we pass baskets as the last part of our worship. There are also offering boxes on the back wall of the sanctuary. You can give two ways:
1) Write a check - make your check out to Vineyard Church.
2) Give cash - If you want the tax credit, put the cash in an envelope with your name on the envelope. There are envelopes in your program or on the table in the back of the sanctuary.

Mail in check - There are addressed postage paid envelopes available in the back of the sanctuary, in the program every weekend, or on request. Just drop those in the mail and we will receive them the next day.

Give online - you have the ability to pay online with a credit card. Like most stores out there, we will take your credit card as a form of tithing. Click to tithe online

Automatic withdrawal - We can have a set amount be deducted weekly, bi-weekly, 2x a month or monthly from your account and be credited to your giving record. This frees you up from the hassle of writing a check or forgetting to give. For more information or to set this up contact Shelly Johnson our bookkeeper (407-8463 or shelly@syracusevineyard.org )

Pay through your bank online - You can make us a payee from your bank.
