According to recent statistics, it’s estimated that by 2010, there will be over 20 million children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic worldwide, a number that shockingly surpasses the entire population of New York State. Every day, 6,000 children lose a parent to AIDS. In sub-Saharan Africa, where the impact of AIDS has been felt dramatically, the average life expectancy is projected to drop to 44 by the year 2010. These tragic statistics alone demand worldwide exposure, but unfortunately, the numbers continue to grow despite urgent warnings.

World Vision

The race and the fun run/walk will start and finish at the Syracuse Vineyard Church, located at 312 Lakeside Road in Geddes. The entrance fee is $15 or $20 for registrations submitted after 8/3/08. Following the race, there will be prizes, food and refreshments.

All proceeds from the race will be used to provide school supplies, tuition and uniforms to orphaned children in sub-Saharan Africa. For every $70 raised, the Syracuse Vineyard, through World Vision, will be able to give this gift to one child. Enabling these children to get a solid education will empower them to break free from a destructive cycle of poverty, over which they now have little control. That is why we are asking you to go out and raise support for your participation. There will be prizes for the individuals and groups, such as businesses and sports teams, who raise the most money.
